Heel restraint mechanism for a shin splint prevention device.
Solution
When researching treatments, I found that shin splints can be avoided by training supporting muscle groups. My solution was to target the develop of the largest supporting muscle group the calf muscle. To do this a device that strengthens the calf through resistance training was developed. The focus of this project was the mechanism that supports the heel and foot. Proper alignment of the foot is key to reducing the risk of future problems developing.
